The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2021-2024; the prescriptions of US Sailing; the prescriptions of HYRA; (except as any of these are altered by this Notice of Race or the Sailing Instructions).
Open to PHRF monohull yachts meeting the Maui Safety Equipment Requirements (Maui SER) for Nearshore category races.
Eligible yachts may be entered by registering online at the event website found at lyc.us/lahaina-lights
Late entries will be accepted under the following conditions: Online registration prior to the first warning signal of the day of racing.
X class PHRF < 60
A class PHRF 60 - 99
B class PHRF > 99
The entry fee is $40.00 per yacht
Skippers Meeting at 0900 hours Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Sheraton. The scheduled time for the 5 minute warning for the first race is 1155 hours. The warning signal for the second and third races will be approximately 10 minutes after the last boat finishes the preceding race. A total of three races are planned.
The races will be conducted from the vicinity of Black Rock Kaanapali to Hawea Point Kapalua.
Scoring of the event shall be in accord with the PHRF Time-On-Distance Handicap system. The Low Point System will be used to score a yacht’s regatta position as modified by HYRA prescriptions.
Race committee and all competitors shall monitor VHF Channel 71
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $300,000 per incident or the equivalent.
Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
